The couple have been subjected to romance rumours for a number of weeks, but appearing on The Project this week, the actor hit out at the claims.
When the pair were asked directly if they were dating, 29-year-old Efron responded by saying: "Nothing [is going on] but a shared love of pickles... So far."
Earlier in the interview, he had confessed that he had to stick to a strict eating regime for the Baywatch movie and as a result, he was left craving food at night – like fried pickles.
He commented: "You're laying in bed and you haven't had carbohydrates for days and you think, 'I really want fried pickles."
His co-star Daddario then also revealed that she also craved fried pickles at night.
The admission led The Project's hosts to ask if the pair shared anything else in bed, which left the actor speechless.
