The 27-year-old announced last month that she was expecting her first child with ex-boyfriend Nathan Massey.
The couple have since said that they will not be reuniting just for the sake of it and appearing on ITV's This Morning on Tuesday, 20 June, Cara explained their decision.
She admitted: "I was actually in hospital having a cervical examination and then I found out I was pregnant. So I didn't go in to find that, so that was a shock.
"We are really good, we're constantly in contact, he knows everything that he needs to know. He was very shocked, just the same as I was, and we tried to make it work, but sometimes it's better for the baby not to be in that volatile relationship."
Cara and Nathan, 25, met in 2016 on the reality television show Love Island. They continued to date once the show finished, but earlier this year they confirmed that they had called time on their romance.
