According to a report by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, JP Nadeau was congratulating his new son-in-law when he was struck by lightning after storm clouds had gathered during the outdoor wedding, which had been held in an apple orchard in New Brunswick, Canada.
It is understood that Mr Nadeau suffered a injury to his thumb, which left a small scar.
The wedding was able to proceed despite the incident.
