In the picture, the Coronation Street actress can be seen alongside her best friend Lee Bennett. However, it was soon revealed that the images were not genuine and had been taken as part of Comedy Central UK's FriendsFest.
Taking to Instagram, Lee – who Katie has previously referred to as her 'gay best friend' – shared images from the event in Manchester, captioning one with: "That one where @katiexmcglynn and Leebs get joined in holy matrimony (sic)."
The 'wedding' news comes just weeks after 22-year-old McGlynn announced on Twitter that she was pregnant with Lee's child. The actress later claimed that her friend had stolen her phone and posted a number of messages and that the baby rumours were not true.
After being criticised for joking about the issue, McGlynn later deleted the tweets.
