On ITV's This Morning Ruth said it "was the most romantic thing ever".
Ruth said: "Eamonn proposed by text. Now, I know what you are thinking straight away, ‘That doesn’t sound very romantic,’ and yet it was the most romantic thing ever.
"It was very spur of the moment, we were having a day at the races.
"It was very unexpected. Basically he got jealous because there was men flirting with me, that's what it was."
He told her: "I never thought for one second you were going to say no."
