Mel B Settles Domestic Violence Cases

Mel B has reportedly settled domestic violence cases against her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte and their former nanny Lorraine Gilles.

The settlement means the former Spice Girl averted a trial at the last minute.

Following the couple's split, Mel B claimed that her partner had subjected her to years of physical and mental abuse, while Ms Gilles had conspired with Belafonte to threaten to release explicit videos of the 42-year-old.

After filing for divorce from her husband, Mel B applied for restraining orders against the pair.

It is understood a domestic violence trial was set to hear further claims and was to be shown intimate videos involving the singer, but this was halted on Monday, 13 November, after she settled with Belafonte and Gilles.

The judge confirmed to the court that the case had been resolved and the temporary restraining orders had been dissolved, paving the way for divorce hearings between Brown and Belafonte.

Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, tied the knot with Belafonte, 42, in Las Vegas in June 2007. In March of this year, the singer filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple have one child together, a six-year-old daughter named Madison. Mel is also a mother to two other children from previous relationships.
