Sydney Loofe, 24, from Lincoln, Nebraska, was last seen on 15 November after going to meet another woman for a date.
The family of Ms Loofe said it was with "heavy heart" that they had to share the news that their daughter had been found dead by police.
Jeff Bliemeister, Lincoln Police Chief, said authorities had been led to the body in rural Clay County earlier this week following "digital evidence".
He added in a news conference that they believed there is evidence of "foul play".
Police said Ms Loofe was last seen after allegedly going on a date with Bailey Boswell, 23, in Wilber, about 40 miles (64km) south of Lincoln.
Ms Loofe had posted a Snapchat image before the meeting, saying: "Ready for my date."
However, the next day, she did not show up at the DIY store where she worked.
Boswell and her flatmate Aubrey Trail, 51, are in police custody. They are believed to be two of the last people to be with Ms Loofe and while they are persons of interest in the case, police said they are both in custody on unrelated warrants.
