The 85-year-old actor has been married to Shakira since 1973 and she accompanies him around the world for work engagements.
Michael is quoted by the MailOnline as saying: "For a start, the obvious thing is you're going on location, you're married, with a load of beautiful actresses. You know what's going to happen.
"When you go away for a long time…you visit places the other one's never seen, you eat in restaurants the other one's never been in, you meet people they've never met.
"Both of you have started a separate life and it's very important you don't do that I think. So my wife goes with me everywhere."
Michael and Shakira have a 45-year-old daughter named Shakira, and he also has Dominique, 62, with his late first wife Patricia Haines.
