Adam Lambert Thinks LGBT Community Must Avoid Indifference

Adam Lambert has voiced his opinion, which he feels is an obligation as a famous gay artist, that the LGBT community must not let "indifference" slow their campaign for genuine equality.

The singer confirmed his sexuality shortly after finishing as a runner up on American Idol, and has urged his community not to become complacent with the victories they have already achieved.

"I think the biggest enemy of the LGBT community right now is indifference," he said in an interview for Schon! Magazine.

"Its people just feeling like victims, and then just sitting around and taking it. That's the problem.

"What's so exciting right now is that so many people are mobilising and encouraging people to step up. We have to get involved politically."

Adam condemned the "underlying sense of hopelessness" that many young gay people feel, and urged them to use their voice and become politically engaged to support the LGBT community.

"The trans community just recently received a terrible blow with the Trump administration basically saying trans people do not exist. It's just fundamentally ridiculous. It's like saying climate change doesn't exist, it's bullshit. So we just need to get involved."
