US weekly broke the news of the 35-year-old's pregnancy, shortly after she got engaged while on holiday to Croatia in August.
Mamie followed her mother's footsteps into the acting world and plays the recurring role of Nancy Crozier on The Good Wife.
The Mamma Mia also has Grace, 32, Louisa, 27 and 39-year-old Henry with her husband Dom Gummer and has kept her family life relatively private.
It is expected Mamie will do the same when the baby comes along.
