LGBT+ Artists Lead BRIT Awards Nominations

The nominations for the 2019 BRIT Awards have been announced and reveal that LGBT+ and female talent is leading the way in the music industry.

Anne-Marie is the most nominated artist, alongside Dua Lipa who is up for four awards.

Years & Years received a nomination for British Group and will be up against The 1975, Little Mix and the Arctic Monkeys.

Their frontman Olly Alexander wrote on Twitter: "Thank god cos I've been mood boarding the outfit for a long time already."

Last year, Anne-Marie revealed that she dates both men and women but doesn't put a label on her sexuality.

At last year’s ceremony, Sam Smith failed to be nominated for a single category but has been nominated for ‘British Male’ this year. He will compete for the award alongside Craig David, Aphex Twin, Giggs, and George Ezra.
