The singer was previously a coach on the show but is now returning to the panel as a judge to replace Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Ahead of the new series, Gwen told People magazine: "To think that Adam's not going to be there is like bittersweet. And plus, like, being between him and Blake, the amount of laughter, I would have to like stop and massage my face, because it would hurt.
"But it's going to be fun, it's going to be exciting. I mean, Blake's my best friend, so I get to hang out with him at work.
"I wanted to come back so bad. I mean, the show is so fun."
The couple will be joined by Kelly Clarkson and John Legend on the judging panel, and have been discussing their strategy for the upcoming contest.
