The pair called time on their marriage just 10 months after saying their vows, and the 34-year-old said it was a difficult situation to go through while living in the public eye.
She told People magazine: "Divorce is like mourning a death. You're ending a chapter in your life. And when you have a child in the mix, it makes things harder. Then, to add in publicity and people judging you ... makes it a million times worse...
"I needed to close a door so I could keep moving forward in my life and not look back."
Audrina, who is returning to 'The Hills' as the show that brought her fame reboots, said she hopes the situation between her and Corey, a BMX rider, will resolve itself in the future.
"I pray we can eventually be friends and not have animosity between us," she added.
