The situation emerged when the singer married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, and Lance travelled straight to Las Vegas to support her following the shotgun wedding that lasted 55 hours.
"She was a little upset once she had realised what she had done, it was a funny thing, and then she started really crying," he revealed on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live.
He continued: "She was so upset and so I took her to her room and we were sitting on the bed and she wouldn't stop crying, so I was like, 'I'm gay,' and it made her stop crying. She chuckled."
Britney later confessed the wedding was down to her "being silly and being rebellious" and went on to marry Kevin Federline, who she had two sons with before their 2007 divorce.
