The singer divorced Jamie after 19 years in 2017 and admits it still poses challenges in her every day life.
Opening up about the split when appearing on ITV's 'Lorraine', Louise explained: "It's the toughest thing anyone will ever go through. It's the toughest thing I've ever experienced in my life and every day is a new challenge with it."
Before ending her 19-year union with the now retired footballer, the mum-of-two said she had found into a steady pattern that she struggled to break.
"I don't think you instantly wake up one morning and go, 'Oh I've lost myself, what's going on?'," she told host Lorraine Kelly.
"Just over the years you kind of fall into a pattern and it's a bit daunting to try and get out of it and it was for me.
"It took for me, everything to really fall apart to actually change..."
Three years on, the 45 year-old has returned to the spotlight with 'Heavy Love', her first album release in 20 years.
